What do you do about something like that? How do you break free from a habitual form of pulling that’s been going on in the same way at the same times – maybe for years?

We The People
People are creatures of habit. We tend to do the same things the same way, in the same order, day in and day out, week in and week out, month in and month out, and year after year. These “programmed” sets of behaviors have become unconscious patterns after so much practice doing the same thing again and again. Think of these as our unconscious mental “recipes” that inevitably lead to the same result each and every time – the result you don’t like called “pulling”.
But like any other recipe, if you change any part of it – any ingredient in it – even the order in which those ingredients are combined, you simply can’t get the same result the same way – it’s impossible.
Just Exchange The Salt And The Sugar
Let’s take an example. Let’s say you have a recipe for a chocolate cake. If you want to make the world’s best chocolate cake, simply find that particular recipe, and follow it to the letter.
So what’s in a recipe? Well, the ingredients for sure.
But not just the ingredients. If you want to make that world’s best chocolate cake just like the pros do, you have to know not only which ingredients to use, but how much of each ingredient to use, and in what order to use them.
Let’s say the recipe calls for a cup of sugar and just a tablespoon of salt. What if all you did was simply switch out the amounts of sugar and salt, so that you used a cup of salt and a tablespoon of sugar? What kind of cake do you think you’d end up with?
Surely not the kind you expected. We all know it would probably taste awful, right?
Yet all we did was change just ONE THING in the entire recipe! And by changing just one thing, it became simply impossible to get the same result later on. Instead, you got something far different.
Same With Us!
And it works the same way for us. Change any part of how you operate in these relatively predictable times and places in which you normally tend to pull, and you’ll find it far easier to avoid pulling this time. The interest may even disappear altogether.
