2015 Was Great – Can’t Wait to See What 2016 Brings!
One of the things Glei to do each January is take stock of how we did the year before. This means reviewing all areas of our work, assessing what we believe we did well, and where things could be improved. It also means reviewing our published work, both written and in video form, and determining which of these resonated best with our viewership. And this, of course, suggests a useful direction for the upcoming year.
Without further adieu, here are our 5 most popular blog offerings of 2015.

What We Learned
So that’s fine – these were our five most popular blog articles of 2015. But what can we take away from this? Are there some common threads? What does this seem to tell us? Is there a pattern here?
We see three important take-aways. They are:
1. It appears our viewership is most commonly interested in insight or information that is likely to either lead to a cure, or at least help our readers/viewers better manage their pulling activity.
This should come as no surprise, given that the vast majority of those with trichotillomania have all but resigned themselves to having to live with trichotillomania for the rest of their lives. Given the preponderance of negativity in so many corners of the media about the general prognosis for those suffering with trich, it’s no wonder people are so concerned with the search for a possible breakthrough – something new and different, something that can finally help take them to the promised land.
2. Our viewership seeks to understand the psychology of trichotillomania.
What would cause a person to continue to pull out their own hair, even knowing full well the damage it causes to themselves, physically, psychologically and emotionally – and knowing darn well how much they really don’t want to be doing that anymore?
This question understandably baffles the loved ones of those suffering with trichotillomania – parents, significant others, etc. – those who are seeking to provide necessary assistance and support. But it’s often just as much a concern for those who themselves are mired with this problem; it’s no more understandable to them than it is anyone else.
This is one of the reasons we’ll seek to continue to help shed light on the causes and motivations for this behavior, both conscious and unconscious.
People need to understand that just because they do this thing and they’ve been unable to break free from it so far, that doesn’t mean they’re broken – it just means they have some very normal human needs they’ve been trying to meet in some very unfortunate and ineffective ways. And for that reason, it’s important to provide information about how to meet those needs far more effectively and efficiently – ways that have nothing to do with hair-pulling, and that successfully implemented, can actually free the puller from any compulsion or urge to pull from that point forward.
3. Our viewership seeks hope and inspiration.
Our audience gravitates to real-life stories of success in others who were most like them in age, demographics, and length of time saddled with this problem before they found a solution.
As before mentioned, many of those with whom we come into contact have all but given up hope for a genuine solution to their hair-pulling problem (at least one that doesn’t require constant vigilance, “white-knuckling” and exhausting personal restraint).
The Power of Hope for Those with Trichotillomania
Throughout history, it’s been hope that has carried people through the toughest possible times. Even more potentially powerful is inspiration, as that can provide the energy, the impetus to take action – to take a chance on something new and different.
And that’s why we often include in our articles and videos stories of folks who have likely been through everything you’ve been through, and yet have come out the other side joyous and victorious.
- You need to know that an answer IS possible.
- You need to know that it is indeed possible to fully free yourself from the scourge of trichotillomania.
- You need to know that it doesn’t have to require lots of things you have to “do” again and again in order to remain free of hair-pulling.
- You need to know that the single most important thing you can do to free yourself from trichotillomania is to change how you think about trichotillomania, how you think about yourself, and your relationship to this behavior.
What this means is you need a change in mindset. As in everything else in life, your mindset is the single most powerful driver of ability and change. Whether you think you can or cannot accomplish something, chances are, you’re right.
And so, yes – we’ll continue to share with you success stories so you know you’re not alone, and you’ll know you CAN conquer trichotillomania.
Looking Back And Learning – Looking Forward with Excitement!
2015 was a watershed year for the Trichotillomania Relief Specialists. Admittedly, our approach is unique and different, and different ideas on the scale of ours are not always met with open minds. But even the medical and mental establishment cannot deny the reports of their own clients. Word of what we are able to achieve with our clients is finally reaching the ears of many who need to hear it.
